Pakistan Education Initiative (PKEI)

The Pakistan Education Initiative is based on the Global Education Initiative (GEI) already established by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Jordon, Palestine, Egypt, and India. The PKEI aims at creating a replicable & workable Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model for the effective use of ICT to bring education in Pakistan at par with the international standards.

A core element of the project is the establishment of a National Education Management System with a specifically designed application.

National Education Database Application Suite

The National Education Database Program (NEDP) is an award-winning collaborative and innovative development program. NEDP envisions connecting 175,000 schools currently in the Pakistan government school system, over a period of 5 years. The program backbone is the National Education Database Application Suite. The suite consists of the following systems:

- Data Collection System
- Data Consolidation & Reporting System
- Data Integration System
- Integration with Business Intelligence Tools

Karachi Pilot Project
After formal approval from the Ministry of Education (Sindh, Pakistan), a pilot project for the PKEI Program was initiated in October 2005. The aim of the pilot project was to identify the key problem areas in actual implementation of the EMIS, to be used as a basis for the long-term implementation strategy for the PKEI Program. The project target was to implement the National Education Database Application Suite in 100 govt. schools in Karachi city (Sindh province). The pilot project was successfully completed in September 2006.
